SAN DIEGO-CORONADO SHARKFEST™ SWIM Sharks in San Diego Harbor? Not really… You may see seals and dolphins as your enter their world but don’t you think Sharkfest is a catchy name? San Diego offers both comfortable water and air temperatures this time of year making it a perfect swim venue. This not-to-be-missed swim will be the second in the growing Enviro-Sports’ Sharkfest™ Series . Our “sold-out” Alcatraz Sharkfest™ Swim is now in its 17th year. DESCRIPTION The 1 mile swim will start at the 5th Avenue Landing behind the San Diego Convention Center and finish at the Tidelands Park beach at the foot of the Coronado Bridge on the Coronado side. The swim has been timed according to the local tidal conditions and will take place during “slack” tide. Your entry fee will grant you a one-way ferry ride to the start from Coronado Island prior to the race or back to San Diego from the finish on Coronado Island after the race. PLEASE NOTE This swim is not for novices . This event is for experienced open-water swimmers only. You should be able to swim a mile comfortably in a pool in under 40 minutes.
